Ricardo De La Cruz

I am a self taught San Antonio based artist born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley.

Guided by the "sociological imagination," much of my
work serves to critique American consumer culture, the culture of war, the urban culture, individual identity, mass media, existence and other social issues that help shape human existence. Themes are conceptualized through the lived experience: be it in daily observations of social phenomenon, readings in current events, in conversations with others, etc. Every experience serves as a muse to my artistic outburst. Each outburst is compsed by vivid imagery, poetic text, and striking color serving the greater purpose of Social Consciousness.
